Williem Bard

Williem Bard has represented business clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters since 1989. He has particular areas of expertise in commercial and residential real estate disputes, construction defect matters, property and business insurance claims, as well as employment, corporate, business, and contractual disputes. Mr. Bard has litigated and/or provided counsel in the following circumstances:

  • resolving wrongful termination, harassment, and other employment claims
  • representation of insureds and insurers in litigation over coverage, claims, and benefits
  • experience with environmental issues and claims
  • commercial and residential leasing transactions
  • formation of business entities
  • financing of new and existing businesses
  • exit planning
  • purchases and sales of businesses

In addition, Mr. Bard has over 25 years of experience as a civil litigator, taking hundreds of cases through arbitration and mediation, to settlement, and to trial in all SF Bay Area counties, a significant number of those cases involving Probate and Trust litigation. Mr. Bard received his law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California. He has been an active member in the Contra Costa County Bar Association since 1991, and a member of the Robert G. McGrath Inn of Court (American Inns of Court) since 1998.

Mr. Bard’s background includes working as an elementary and junior high school teacher in Oakland, California, and serving as an Assistant Professor at the California State University East Bay in 1989 and 2006, teaching, respectively, Computers in the Law Office and Interviewing and Investigation.

Mr. Bard has also served as a pro bono advocate. From 1990 through 1998, he provided members of the public with free legal consultations and referrals through the volunteer program, Lawyers in the Library, sponsored by the Alameda County Bar Association. He has also served as a contributing author for CEB’s Landslide & Subsidence Liability Supplement.
